Durham, NC

I’m in Durham NC for the week dog-sitting my sister’s two large, and good-natured beasts.
Her neighborhood’s the kind where people plant wild flowers instead of grass and grow corn and tomatoes in the front yard. The houses are older but well-kept. There are lot of dog owners. Neighborly people. I’d guess that a lot of the people here, including my sister, are not natives of NC but are here for jobs with one of the universities or research institutes. Quiet week – I walk the dogs, fill the bird feeders, water plants, read and try to keep up with the Poetry MOOC and an online Spanish course. A change in scenery is good.
