The fly/the human 30april2013

Prompt today – a poem of opposites. Used William Blake’s The Fly.

The Human

Lumbering human
Thy winter cares
My seasoned bite
has brought to bear

Are you not
a fly like me
and am I not
too human?

For you spread
your pestilence
until the hand of God
shall stop your breath

If lack of thought is death
and mindless ranting

Then are you
a too sad fly
for you die bereft
of reason
